Green Dragon Stress-Relieving Soda

New from SodaLixir Herbal Beverages of Santa Monica, CA, comes Green Dragon, a soda-pop said to relieve stress.

It's described as a ginger soda, with a concoction of herbal ingredients designed to make you feel good.

Chocolate Green Tea Bars

Sjaak's Organic Chocolates of Eureka, CA has added some new varieties to its line of organic chocolate bars.

Among them is "Chocolate Green Tea", which combines the antioxidant benefits of green tea with the antioxidant benefits of chocolate, for a new kind of 1-2 punch.

Sjaak's is also offering other new varieties, "Organic Chocolate Mint", "Organic Dark Chocolate with Caramel", "Organic Dark Chocolate Raspberry" and "Organic Dark Chocolate Espresso".

Dick Cheney's Pepper Shot

Austin Spice Co., known for such funny products like "Kerry's Flip-Flop Sauce", and "Bush's Where's the WMD Sauce", is now offering a hot sauce called "Cheney's Pepper Shot", after the Vice Prez himself peppered his attorney with gun shot.

The hot sauce comes in regular edition, and a limited edition. The limited edition is limited to 75 bottles with labels printed on gold foil. They're hand signed and numbered with a price of $49.50 each.

Bottle number one in the limited edition is being set aside for a special price of $125,000, which includes the "Hunting Camp Excursion". Dare RealFruit Gummies

Dare Foods, a Canadian-based food maker, is bringing its popular "RealFruit" line of gummies to the USA.

They're made with a variety of real fruit purees and juices, with no artificial flavors or colors. RealFruit gummies claim to "burst with authentic flavor", and are marketed to both kids and adults (note the packaging is more adult-like).

Dare Foods says they make these in a nut-free, peanut-free facility.

RealFruit Gummies are available in Fruit Medley, Orchard Fruits, and Tropical Fruits varieties, all in 6.4oz. bags.

Maya Chocolate Food Bars

Maya is a new line of "chocolate food bars" from Denver, CO-based Larabar. It just started shipping May 1, 2006.

The concept is basically a chocolate-covered bar of fruits and nuts and no man-made ingredients added. Well, except for the chocolate anyways, and Fair Traded chocolate at that. They say Maya Chocolate Food Bars each contain only 6 ingredients, and are dairy, soy, and gluten free.

Pictured here is the Chocolate Orange variety, described as "pure organic chocolate infused with a natural essence of orange, teeming with antioxidants, along with Vitamin B6, niacin, riboflavin and magnesium". It also includes chunks of almonds and whole cacao beans.

Also available is Chocolate Mint, Chocolate Coffee, and plain old Chocolate.

I'm amused with the words "food bar", as if to suggest this is not a snack bar. How many times have we seen chocolate-covered nuts, chocolate-covered fruit, chocolate-covered cacao beans? As they say, "A rose by any other name...."

Trader Joe's Cookies are now available in a new variety, Caramel Cashew.

It's an "all butter cookie" described as having rich flavor and great crunch. Each cookie contains cashew chunks and caramel chips, but has zero grams of trans fat.

Branded as "crispy, crumbly and delicious" the cookies are sold in a 14 oz. tub with a suggested retail price of $3.99.

7up All Natural

7up, the famous lemon/lime soft drink has given up on artificial flavors and is turning to real lemon and lime juices.

From the sounds of it, you're no longer going to be able to get "classic" 7up, instead it's going to have the real juice. They also reduced the sodium content by 50%.

I guess it's ok. It's not like 7up is still popular. Pepsico quit bottling it in favor of its Sierra Mist product.

Now if they'd only do Cactus Cooler in real fruit juice. Though, I'd still want "classic" Cactus Cooler for those days when you just gotta relive old memories.

It's a puffed rice and corn snack said to be made with all natural ingredients, including real Dutch cocoa. The cocoa is sprinkled over the rice/corn puffs.

Corazonas Tortilla Chips

Corazonas Tortilla Chips are a new product from Mill Valley, CA-based Corazonas Foods Inc.

It's a "heart-healthy" line of tortilla chips made from whole oats, fiber, and plant sterols. It claims to be the first line of tortilla chips to do so. They contain no trans fat, no cholesterol, low in saturated fat, and made with all natural ingredients.

They look more like Sun Chips cut into triangles.

Milk Flavored Colored Potato Fries

Junk food innovation continues full force in China where consumers are now enjoying "milk flavored colored potato fries".

A product of Beijing Lianhua Food Industry Co. Ltd. and sold under the Cadina brand, it's a condensed milk flavor infused into multicolored french fries.

It's a ready-to-eat snack similar to potato chips, except it's made from a combination of potato and bean powder.

Fluffernutter Ice Cream

If you don't know what "fluffernutter" is, you'll know now.

Brighams Inc., a top selling brand of ice cream in New England, claims to have made the world's first Fluffernutter ice cream.

Fluffernutter is simply a combination of peanut butter and marshmallow cream.

It's roots apparently go back a long way. The name itself is actually a registered trademark of Durkee-Mower Co., the company that makes the marshmallow fluff. It's said that fluffernutter sandwiches have been consumed for at least a century, thus spawning the creation of Durkee-Mower for the production of fine marshmallow fluff. Durkee-Mower promotes every October 8th as National Fluffernutter Day.

Brigham's Fluffernutter ice cream is made with Durkee-Mower's very own marshmallow cream, otherwise it just wouldn't be "fluffernutter" would it? I doubt Durkee-Mower would have permitted licensing of its trademark name if it couldn't get in on the action.

The new Fluffernutter ice cream is currently being scooped at all Brigham's locations and are available at grocery stores throughout New England.

Delmor Shredded Squid

Bridgetown Foods, which markets food products in Russia, is offering a line of shredded squid.

Funny, when I first saw the words, "Delmor Shredded Squid", the first thing that came to my mind is pouring milk over these things and eating breakfast. But it's basically squid jerky.

The company stresses its health benefits, being rich in protein and iodine. They also claim its produced from "ecologically pure meat of Pacific squid", which I guess means they fish them out of the ocean?

You can get them in four flavors: salty, smoked, ketchup and paprika.
