Mac the Chip Cookies

Had one of these cookies today at California Tea & Coffee in Temecula, CA.

These are touted as vegan cookies. I guess that means it has no egg ingredient.

This has chocolate chips. So I suppose it's some kind of milk free chocolate.

It's good. It's very sweet and has a buttery body to it, even though it's all non-dairy. But it still has a funny taste in the background. I'll stick to "real" cookies, but these are pretty good.

Doodles Organic Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix

Doodles Cookies is a new brand of cookies focusing on cookie lovers who want to snack on organic ingredients. They're sole offering at this point is an organic chocolate chip cookie mix.

However, they're getting set to launch a gluten-free sugar cookie mix next month.

Deborah Sievers, owner of Doodles Cookies, is an avid cook who first got the idea for marketing her cookie mix after winning two awards from Chile Pepper magazine for an original chocolate chip cookie recipe. Presidential Election Cookies

David's Cookies announced today that they've produced new 2008 Presidential Election cookies, bearing the names of the top white house contenders.

These are classified as "cookie cakes", measuring 12 inches wide in diameter.

The company says they will tabulate sales of each Presidential hopeful, and thereby predict the winner of super Tuesday (Feb 5).

As usual, Dennis Kucinich was left without a cookie.

Sorbee International Limited, is launching a new line of sugar-free products called, "EatRite BeFit".

These consist of syrups, cookies, and chocolates, all sweetened with Splenda.


I've always been amazed at how companies can market junk food and convince you that you're doing something good for yourself. Imagine your mom handing you a bag of sugar-free chocolate and saying "Here junior, now you're eating right, and being fit".

Not that I want them to stop, I find humor in it. I understand that sugar-free candies have fewer calories than sugar candies, and are tolerable to diabetics. They do have their place. But do we need to be told that we're "eating right and being fit"?

I can't help seeing Jack-in-the-Box removing the cheese from their cheeseburger and calling it a healthy alternative for lactose-intolerant people.

While Christmas has passed us by, I couldn't help noticing this package of Nestle Christmas Tree Cookies.


Doesn't the font in the words "Christmas Trees" look strangely similar to a Dr. Seuss book?

I'm guessing someone at Nestle's package design department is on to something.

Midwest Airlines Chocolate Chip Cookies

Midwest Airlines is now offering its famous chocolate chip cookies for retail in the form of ready-to-bake cookie dough.


The company, which flies it's jetliners across the heartland of America, offers its passengers free chocolate chip cookies, which are baked during the flight. The cookies are very popular with passengers, and demands for the company's secret recipe have escalated. Instead, Midwest Airlines is offering the next best thing, by selling its cookie dough.

The cookie dough is only available at Milwaukee-area, Balistreri-owned and -operated Sendik's Food Markets. If you don't happen to live within driving distance to Milwaukee, well hopefully Midwest Airlines will distribute them to other stores.

Midwest Airlines is based in Milwaukee, which kinda explains that.

The chocolate chip cookie is a pretty serious issue with Midwest Airlines, check out their website, "Save the Cookie".

I'm not for certain, but I think Midwest Airlines may be the first air carrier to launch its food for retail.

Stix in the Mud

Stix in the Mud is the flagship product of Los Angeles, CA-based Funley's Delicious.

They describe them as a "sweet and salty clusters of savory cookie bits smothered in chocolate". Imagine tiny crunchy cookie bits, drowned in balls of chocolate, similar to like a Nestle Crunch, but in ball form.

The Original variety is actually made with a mixture of milk chocolate and dark chocolate. The Peanut Butter and Caramel varieties are just milk chocolate.

The product's website says the creator of Stix in the Mud got the idea after walking into a puddle of mud and dropping a load of sticks. Doubt that it's true, but it works.

Snack 'n Seal Packaging for Junk Food

Nabisco is now offering their Oreo Cookies in this new "Snack 'n Seal" packaging.


Once used largely for moist-towelettes, this type of resealable packaging is making its way into the snack food industry. It'll probably work out great for junk stuff like Oreos that don't have to be sealed and refrigerated.

Key Lime Cookies

H-E-B, which is a line of grocery stores in Texas, is now offering Key Lime Chocolate Chip cookies under its own brand.

Made with white chocolate chips, they have the tangy flavor of LIME!

Maybe I'm just behind the times, but I haven't seen key lime flavored cookies before. I have a nephew who lives in Texas, I'll have to get him to send us some. My wife absolutely loves key lime pie, she'll probably like these cookies too.

Entenmann's Little Bites

Entenmann's has added new flavors to their line of 100 calorie pouch packages.

The Oatmeal Raisin Square cookies are sold in an 8-count boxes. Their Little Bite Muffin line also got a new variety with the Banana Chocolate Chip variety in a 5-count pouch.

Little Bites Popem Donut Balls come in two new flavors ... Lemonade and Bubble Gum in 5-count pouches. (Bubble gum donuts?)

All pastries and cookies are "0 grams of trans fat". No word on the retail price but my guess is about twice what you'd pay for a regular sized package.

Pepperidge Farms 100 Calorie Packs

Pepperidge Farms has introduced new 100 Calorie packaging of their famliar cookies.

The Chessemen Butter Cookies are small shortbread style cookies with shapes of chess pieces on them.

The new packaging has 5 individually sealed packages with .71 ounce servings of the cookies (100 calories).

As a reference, an ordinary package of (the full-sized) Chessmen cookies is 7.5 ounces. For those who can't seem to eat .71 ounces from an unmoderated bag, Pepperidge Farms has solved the problem. Even if you fall off the wagon and eat all five package in the box, you're still only getting 500 calories, where you'd be getting over 1,000 in a regular bag. (Most likely at the same price.)

Strawberry Milkshake Creme Oreos

Oreo Chocolate Sandwich Cookies have been introduced in the USA in a "Limited Edition" Strawberry Milkshake Creme.

Ice cream parlors have been making Strawberry Milkshakes with Oreos for years, so it'll be nice to get the full experience in a room-temperature cookie.

Other versions of Oreos currently on the market include Golden (a vanilla cookie with cream), Double Stuf, Reduced Fat, Chocolate Creme and Fudge Covered.

The limited edition 12 oz.(340g) resealable laminate package have been spotted already in Wal-Mart and Publix.

Girl Scout Cookies Goes Trans Fat Free

The Girl Scouts of the USA announced today that their complete line of cookies are now, "zero trans fat per serving".

What this actually means is that each serving of cookies contains less than 0.5 grams of trans fat which meets the FDA requirements for the "trans fat free" designation.

Some of the Girl Scout Cookies actually were trans fat free going back to last year, but finally now all varieties are politically correct.
