Chicken Coated Peanuts

Hong Kong-based Mae-ruay Snack Food Factory Co., Ltd. offers a line of snacks called "Koh-Kae".

If you look carefully at the bottom of the can, it reads, "Peanuts Chicken Flavour Coated".

So, I guess if you can't make up your mind between eating chicken or eating peanuts, you can have both in one crunchy delight.

Koh-Kae is also offered in Garlic and Coconut Cream varieties.

Heinz Tomato Ketchup - Commemorative Bottles

What better way to show your support and enthusiasm for the World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers than with a bottle of Heinz Tomato Ketchup 2005 World Champions Commemorative Bottles. Steaz Green Tea Soda

The Healthy Beverage Co. introduces Steaz Green Tea Soda in new four pack carriers. Green Tea Sodas are packaged in "handcrafted" glass bottles and the carrier is "specially designed cardboard that resists tearing, even when wet.".

Steaz sodas are "rich in antioxidants and vitamins"and have a great soda flavor without the "artificial flavors, colors and preservatives generally found in typical soft drinks". Steaz Green Tea Sodas are made from 100 percent natural ingredients, and are the first Soft Drinks to be stamped with the USDA Organic seal.

Grilled BBQ Pork Jerky

Universal Food Company is offering Grilled BBQ Pork Jerky under its Golden Island brand.

Described as sweet and slightly smoky with just a hint of cinnamon and spices, it's supposed to be like eating the barbecued pork you find at most chinese restaurants.

Here at Junk Food Blog, we like to keep bags of jerky handy as our blog snack of choice (along with the sunflower seeds), so we'll definitely have to get us some of this.

The company says it was a huge success at the 31st Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco's Moscone Center, and that it could become one of our favorite snacks, and it sounds like it definitely could.

Currnetly only available only at Sam's Club and online from the product's website, it sells for $4.50 per 4oz bag.

Ben & Jerry's Black & Tan Ice Cream

The folks at Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream have launched a new ice cream flavor just in time for St. Patrick's Day, "Black & Tan".

The frozen treat combines real cream stout (the non-alcoholic kind), swirled in with with chocolate ice cream, and topped off with a foamy stout ice cream head, perhaps giving a new meaning to the term, "Mother's Milk".

Ben & Jerry's Brewmaster, John Shaffer, says they searched far and wide for the perfect ingredient that meets the authentic flavor of a European stout beer. I didn't know Ben & Jerry's had a brewmaster!

If you'd like to sample a pint of BJ's new brew, they should be in stores right now.

Nestle Stixx Launched

Nestle launched its new Nestle Stixx line of candy bars yesterday.

The new Stixx line consists of a crispy wafer covered in chocolate, creme filling inside, with candy bits sprinkled on the chocolate covering. The line includes such varieties based on Butterfinger, Nestle Crunch, and Nestle Crunch Dark.

All three varieties are available in packages containing six individually wrapped bars. Each candy has only 90 calories, and is targeted towards health conscious folks.

Currently available at major convenience, drug and grocery stores nationwide, with an average national MSRP of $1.99 per package.

Del Taco's Crispy Fish Burrito

On the tail of its successful Crispy Fish Taco, the Del Taco chain of Mexican fast-food restaurants debuts its new Crispy Fish Burrito.

It made with two crispy fish fillets, a new "ancho chili sauce", crunchy cabbage, freshly made salsa all wrapped up in a warm flour tortilla and a lime wedge. It sells for $2.89, and is being served up starting today.

The new menu item will be supported by an ad that features Dan the Del Taco product guy. In the ad, Dan takes a crusty boat captain in search of his favorite fishing spot - the Del Taco drive thru. While getting bag after bag of this new favorite burrito from the drive-thru window, Dan quips "we're gonna need a bigger boat," in a slight spoof of the popular scene from Jaws when upon seeing the large shark, Roy Scheider's character declares the same thing.

Quizno's Prime Rib Sub

The Quizno's chain of sub sandwich shops announced that it has launched a new creation, the Prime Rib Sub.

They heap on a a double portion of tender prime rib, piled high with melted mozzarella cheese and sauteed onions, and then topped with a mild peppercorn sauce, with your choice of bread. Quizno's claims they're the only nationwide fast-food chain offering prime rib on a sub sandwich.

The new Prime Rib Sub is available in small, regular, and large sizes, priced from $4.99 to $9.99.

The Long John Silver's chain of fast-food seafood restaurants is now offering Buttered Lobster Bites.

Made with real langostino lobster, and prepared in a buttery breading, it brings the taste of lobster to folks on a tight budget, costing only $2.99.

They're only available for a limited time however, so you better try them out quick. The company notes that this is a great way to break free from eating traditional fish for Lent.

Arby's is Getting Really Chicken

The Arby's fast-food chain announced that it's going to use 100% all-natural chicken in its chicken sandwiches, wraps, salads, and tenders.

The company says that its competitors actually use chicken where up to 29.3% of materials come from various other elements, like water, seasoning, oil, modified food starch, and sodium phosphates.

Arby's menu items featuring Arby's all-natural chicken will include: Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich (grilled or crispy), Chicken Bacon 'n Swiss Sandwich, Chicken Fillet Sandwich (grilled or crispy), Chicken Tenders (3- and 5-pack and Kid's Meal), Market Fresh(TM) Chicken Salad Sandwich(TM), Market Fresh Chicken Salad Wrap(TM), and grilled or crispy chicken featured in the Market Fresh Martha's Vineyard Salad(TM), Market Fresh Chicken Club Salad(TM) and Market Fresh Santa Fe Salad(TM).
