It was only a matter of time before Starbucks began to bottle their "creme" frappuccinos just like they have with the traditional flavors for a number of years. The creme frappuccinos do not contain coffee - which may or may not be appealing.

The Strawberries and Creme Frappuccino that Starbucks is now bottling for your enjoyment at home used to only be offered seasonally at Starbucks locations.

I'm sure that other creme flavors will soon be available in bottles as well.

Who says that wine in a box can't be cool? The new Trove Wine line from Canandaigua, NY-based Canandaigua Wine Co. is trying to dispell that myth with it's Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon in 3 liter boxes.

Trove will sell for around $22.99 and should stand out on the shelf with its brightly colored graphics on all four sides of the box.

I don't know how it tastes, but it definitely looks cooler than other "wine in a box".

Super-Sized Gingerbread Castle

Executive Pastry Chef, Jean-Francois Houdre, of the historic Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco, unveiled this extravagant gingerbread castle.

The inspiration to do a one-of-a-kind grandiose gingerbread castle came from recent family trip to Europe. The Houdre family had the opportunity to visit several remarkable chateauxs, particularly, Mont Saint Michel and la cite de Carcassonne, one of Europe's most complete examples of a fortified abbey.

The castle is entirely edible, and comprised of the following sumptuous ingredients:

• 70 pounds of gingerbread


• 130 pounds of pastillage (Powdered sugar, egg whites and gelatin dough)

Hardee's Red Burrito Taco Salad

Hardee's today announced the introduction of a new entree salad, "Red Burrito Taco Salad".

Looking through the ingredients, it's pretty much the same taco salad you'd expect to find at most places: a bowl-shaped tortilla shell, filled with seasoned ground beef, Monterey Jack and cheddar cheeses, shredded lettuce, refried beans, sour cream, hot sauce and spicy pico de gallo salsa.

According to their press release, it's actually the same taco salad they've been testing in several restaurants. It's now official.

Cactus Mint Gum

Here's an interesting new flavor from Wrigley, "Cactus Mint".

It's being distributed to masticators in Eastern Europe, where minty-fresh cactus is all the rage I suppose. Actually, isn't "cactus mint" an oxymoron? When you think of cactus, you think often think of "desert" and "dry" and "hot". The word "mint" seems opposite of all that.

Oh yeah, when I feel like cooling down next to a couple of snowy mountain peaks, a chunk of cactus is what I want to be chewing on.

Absolutely Free Ice Cream is a new line of gourmet ice cream products from The Enlightened Gourmet, Inc. os West Hartford, CT.

It's touted as fat-free, lactose-free, cholesterol-free, as well as "no added sugar", yet they claim it has the same texture and mouth feel as regular full fat premium ice cream.

Sara Lee Quick'n Easy Ready-To-Bake Batter

Quick'n Easy Ready-To-Bake Batter is a new offering from Sara Lee Bakery Group.

Unlike other ready-to-bake batter kits, this one is refrigerated, and is sold in the refrigerated section of grocery stores. Refrigerated cake batter, I'm told, has been making its rounds in Europe, and is just starting to invade the USA.

Sara Lee's entry comes in Chocolate and Yellow varieties, and makes 12 cupcakes or 1 layer cake.

Kabbalah Energy Drink

Available in the USA, Kabbalah Energy Drink is touted in literature as "a delicious citrus fusion which contains essential vitamins and amino acids that pick you up and keep you going."

It's a brand owned by Light Force Water Source, Inc., according to the product's website. However, there is a very interesting (and lengthy) report associating this product with the controversial Kabbalah Centre.

The drink's website claims it's infused with "Kabbalah Water", a product supposedly made by the Kabbalah Centre. Kabbalah Water is water as it originally was, back when God created the world, containing healing energies.

But just in case the healing energies don't work, they threw in some caffeine, taurine, and a bunch of B-vitamins, as back-up.

Coney Combos is among the latest offerings from Brooklyn, NY-based Frankly Foods, Inc.

Sold under the "SteepleChase" brand, it's billed as the best thing that ever happened to a hot dog".

KitKat Strawberry with Fruit Pulp

Nestle Confectionery of Japan has unleashed a new KitKat variety called, "KitKat Tsubu Tsubu Ichigo" [chunky strawberry].

It's billed as the first ever KitKat to contain chunks of fruit pulp. The first strawberry variety with pink chocolate was launched on limited seasonal sale the winter of 2003/4. This new chunky strawberry variety contains freeze-dried strawberries in white chocolate coating for a new mouthfeel.

New from Coca-Cola Co. is Vault, and Vault Zero, an energy soda, to be introduced in the USA. Vault Zero is the sugar-free variety.

It has a citrus flavoring, is low in calories (according to the label), and sold in a 20 fl. oz. (1.25 PT - 591ml) plastic bottle. It'll be available February 2006.

In terms of energy boost, it has nothing more than caffeine, but plenty of it, more than a Mountain Dew, and almost as much as Jolt Cola.
