Kettle Foods of Salem, OR jumped into the Pita Chip bandwagon with their announcement of Bakes Pita Chips.Made from organic wheat flour, the "alternative" chip comes in two flavors, "Salt & Pepper" and "Salt Kissed", which apparently mimics two of Kettle's most popular potato chip flavors. The company recommends using the Salt & Pepper variety with dips and spreads, while using the Salt Kissed variety with hummus or cheese spreads.
They're baked with a smidgeon of canola oil, contain no trans fats, and just 120 calories and 3.5 grams of fat per serving.
Kettle brand Bakes Pita Chips hit supermarket and natural food store shelves in 6-ounce bags this fall, retailing for $3.29.
