Corn Flavored Ice Cream?
That's right, sweet corn that is. Palapa Azul has a line of "Mexican style" ice cream in some never-before seen flavors:
Goat's Milk Mexican Caramel
Sweet Corn
Flan
Mango
Coconut Sorbet
Mexican Chocolate
Hibiscus
Their ice cream line has been out since last summer, though their website looks pretty slow in getting update.
mango ice cream? coconut sorbet? big deal :P here in the philippines (a fellow former spanish colony), mango ice cream is really popular.
goat's milk mexican caramel sounds like "dulce de leche." just place a can of condensed milk on a double boiler for over an hour - and presto! (don't ask me about the specific steps, i don't remember coz its my dad who makes it, and i don't cook).
hibiscus ice cream sounds interesting. i wonder how that tastes.
flan is popular in the Philippines (where I'm from). I wouldn't be surprised if they placed it on ice cream. We have sweet corn-flavored chips, but they're not as popular as the classic flavors.
Hi.. Actually the ice creams and sorbets officially launched this Summer (2005)..not last year..the bars were launched 2004 (I am the PR guy for Palapa Azul)
